About
Meet Anand
I'm Anand Shankar Lal. I work one-to-one with people who are carrying something — the anxiety that won't quiet, the grief that won't lift, the tiredness that sleep doesn't touch, the sense that something deeper has gone unattended for too long. The work I do lives across three places at once: the mind, the body, and the soul. For some people that means hypnotherapy. For others it's gentler energy work, or something quieter still. Most of the time it's some of each, in the order your own system is ready for.
I see people in person in Tustin, California, and online over Zoom, in English and in Hindi. There are no classes here, no certifications to earn, no program to graduate from. Just the work itself, and the time it honestly takes. This page is where I tell you who I am and where this comes from — so that by the time we ever speak, you already know the kind of person you'd be sitting with.
Anand's story
Most practitioners lead with credentials. I'd rather lead with the truth that the credentials came later — that this work found me before I had any framework for it, and that the framework was something I went a long way to learn only after I couldn't ignore the calling any longer.
What I can tell you plainly is this: I didn't arrive at this through theory. I arrived at it through my own need, and through years of being taught by people who took that need seriously. The two halves of my training — the clinical and the lineage-based — looked unrelated when I began. They turned out to be the same work approached from two doors. That's the story below.
The lineage
The spiritual healing I practice is drawn from the JNANA Kanda lineage of Bali — an old, living tradition of energy and spirit healing carried through direct teacher-to-student transmission rather than books. I trained in it under my teacher, Mahaguru Mangku Alit Ajna, in Tabanan, Bali. To study this way is not to take a course; it's to be initiated, slowly, by someone who has been entrusted with the lineage before you, and who decides when and whether you are ready to carry it yourself. I don't say that to mystify it. I say it because it's the honest difference between something you can certify in a weekend and something that takes years and a teacher's trust.
JNANA Kanda is not a religion, and you don't need to share any faith — or any faith at all — to receive it. It's a way of working with the energy a person carries: the grief lodged where words can't reach, the heaviness that has no medical name, the blocked feeling that logic can't argue you out of. On the deeper pages of this site I name the tradition plainly because, by the time you're reading them, you've earned the right to know exactly what you'd be receiving.
Alongside the lineage, I'm a trained clinical hypnotherapist. That training is the Western, evidence-grounded half of what I do — the quiet, clinical kind of hypnotherapy, not the stage show — and it's what makes the mind-side of this work both credible and safe. I find that the two traditions don't compete. The clinical work gives the soul-work a steady, grounded floor to stand on; the lineage gives the clinical work somewhere deeper to reach. Holding both is, in the end, what lets me meet a whole person rather than a single symptom.
How Anand works
My first commitment to you is honesty over conversion. I would rather tell you the truth and lose the booking than tell you what you want to hear and waste your time. If I think a doctor, a licensed therapist, or simply more time is the better first step for you, I'll say so — clearly, and without making you feel turned away. That isn't a disclaimer buried in fine print; it's how the first conversation actually goes.
The way I work treats the mind, the body, and the soul as one system rather than three departments. Anxiety that lives in the mind is often held in the body; grief the soul carries can keep the mind from ever resting. So I don't ask you to decide in advance which kind of help you need. We start with whatever is most present and let the work find its own order. For some people that's mostly hypnotherapy. For others it's gentle energy work, or the quieter spiritual healing. Usually it moves between them as you do.
Here is what I will promise: that you'll always know what's happening and why, that nothing will be forced, that you stay aware and in control the entire time, and that I'll be honest with you at every step. Here is what I won't promise: a cure, a guarantee, a fixed number of sessions, or a miracle. Real change tends to be quiet and to take the time it takes.
This is a good fit if you're carrying something that hasn't yielded to understanding alone, and you're open to going gently and without a fixed agenda. It is not the right starting point if you're in crisis, in acute danger, or in need of urgent medical or psychiatric care — those deserve licensed clinical support first, and I'll help you find it before anything else. There's no shame in starting elsewhere. Sometimes that's simply the right order.
What to expect
Beginning is smaller and lower-pressure than people tend to imagine. It starts with a free consultation — about fifteen minutes, by phone or video. You tell me what's going on in your own words; I tell you honestly whether I think I can help and how. There's no cost, no obligation, and no script. If it isn't a fit, you'll leave that call with a clearer sense of what is.
If we decide to go further, your first session runs about an hour, in person here in Tustin or online over Zoom. We begin gently, with whatever is most present for you, and we move only as fast as your nervous system can actually keep up with. From there, the work settles into a rhythm. Most people find a real shift somewhere across three to six sessions, though there's no fixed plan you're signing up for — you decide how far you go, every step of the way.
Contact
If you'd rather write before you book, you can reach me through the contact form here. It's short: your name, a way to reach you back, and a message field where you can say as much or as little as you like, in your own words. I read these myself, and I'll write back honestly — including, if it's the case, to say that something else might serve you better first.
Prefer email? Write to hello@spiritualhealinghub.com and Anand will reply.
A note on that message field. This is one of only three places on the entire site that accepts free-text writing. When you submit, your message runs through a quiet, static crisis-keyword scan (per spec §6.4 and §10). If it picks up language suggesting you may be in crisis or unsafe, the form pauses before sending and shows you immediate resources — 988, the Crisis Text Line at 741741, and 911 — with a single honest line: Anand is a healing practitioner, not a crisis service. Please reach out to one of the above first. You can then either go to those resources or confirm you're safe and continue. The scan is plain keyword matching, not an algorithm reading your words — it exists only to make sure no one in danger slips past a contact form when they need a lifeline instead.
When you're ready
When you're ready, the simplest way forward is a single honest conversation. No pressure to decide today, and no wrong way to begin.
